Rugby Opinion

More clinical tonight and nice to see a few tries. A home semi-final is on the cards.

Ref wasn't great but that's normal in pro 12, think it's costing the league too.

Richard Collumb

Richard (Collumb), sitting where I was it didn't feel even a little clinical. A lot of first half mistakes, poor passing, 2 soft tries conceded... I do agree that it's great to see tries, but missed passes behind players and gifted intercepts are not good. I'm not trying to be a nay Sayer, I'm delighted with the win and bp, but simple things done well would've been better tonight than trying too much as happened a few times first half. A better team could've taken advantage tonight.  I'm not sure how it looks on TV, but I feel tonight was another poor referee performance, and the standard has to get better

A game of two halves. Some of those second half passes could have being costly to Leinster.

Take the positives. A bonus point win against poor opposition in an entertaining game. And hey the Nugget was 100% was his darts so that has to be good!

That first half was pretty bad. We dominated in so many ways yet couldn't manufacture a score. We were lateral and predictable and it was fairly reminiscent of last season at times. Mads was very poor again and we didn't seem to have anyone taking control in the first 40. We were lucky not to give up 2 intercepts as well.

Then in the second half we suddenly seemed to be more incisive up the middle. I'm not sure exactly what changed but once we started making ground there we started finding space elsewhere. For as much as Mads seems to be on a beach in Bordeaux, Ben Te'o has been playing like he was born, bred and will die in blue. I've developed a whole new level of respect for him the last few weeks. Luke was back, and boy was he back. Was my MOTM. Strauss was great and I thought Mick Kearney was really excellent. Rob looked strong and well up for it too.

But some of the problems from the first half remained and we finally saw the intercept that had been coming all game. VDF, who was very good overall and seemed to be looking to make things happen, missed a few tackles that he should have nailed. Ferg looked like a guy trying too hard to make an impression. You have to wonder were they told to go out and stake a claim and ended up pushing it too hard at times? Edinburgh shouldn't have gotten a LBP today but we gifted them a couple of soft tries.

Can we get some sort of heating in the south stand? Mother of God I've never been so cold! Mick Kearney and Ben Te'o superb. Luke is so so good but I think he'd be better use to us next year at 12 with Henshaw at 15. Reid offered us a bit of an offload in midfield but fell off a couple of tackles. Three soft tries conceded which wasn't good but we got the BP which is mission accomplished really!
