Georgia take on Romania in European Nations Cup 2016 title decider

Tbilisi showdown is one of three live matches on Rugby Europe TV this Saturday

The European Nations Cup comes to a thrilling finale this Saturday when Georgia face Romania in a winner takes all clash in Tbilisi. The game will be streamed live and free of charge on RugbyEurope.tv, the new digital streaming service from Rugby Europe, the governing body responsible for the promotion, development, administration and management of international competitions for the 48 member unions across Europe.

More than 50,000 rugby fans will be in the Georgian capital as the competition comes to a close with its two unbeaten sides facing off for 2016 Championship.  Heading into the final weekend of the tournament, Georgia are in fine form having defeated a talented Russia side 24-7 in their toughest challenge of the campaign so far.

Visitors Romania will be full of confidence after a convincing 61-7 victory of European Nations Cup strugglers Germany in Iasi last weekend. Romania have been convincing winners in each of their matches so far, including an impressive 30-0 win over Russia, and will be keen to come home from Tbilisi on Sunday with their first European Nations Cup title since 2010.

Undoubtedly the highlight of the 2016 tournament, the stage is set for a classic between the two dominant sides in European Nations Cup rugby. Georgia and Romania have scored 39 tries between them in 2016, and will thrill the huge crowds watching in Tbilisi and on Rugby Europe TV.

Elsewhere this weekend, the European Nations Cup 2014-2016 relegation battle will go down to the wire. After difficult losses last weekend Germany and Portugal are level on six points from their nine matches of the 2015 and 2016 campaigns. Portugal will be relegated if the two sides finish level on points after this week’s matches, due to their head to head record against Germany.

On Saturday Portugal fell to a 39-7 loss to local rivals Spain, while Germany were outclassed by a rampant Romania. Both sides are looking bounce back with a victory that could save them from relegation to ENC-1B. Portugal take on a strong Russia side, that will be hurting after seeing its title challenge fade away after losses to Romania and Georgia, while Germany host a Spain team fresh off a convincing win over Portugal.
