Elsewhere in the world of rugby by Ciarán Duffy

While the Rugby World Cup is taking place there are a few other international rugby tournaments going on. Victoria Cup 2019
Zimbabwe won the Victoria Cup, but were unable to finish in style with Kenya stopping them from getting a GrandSlam. Kenya put in their best performance of what was a slightly disappointing campaign from their point of view having gone in as favourites. Kenya won the game 36 – 14. Zambia finish bottom of the table without a win. Uganda had a good showing in this years cup. The hope is there will be more African international rugby next year, the Rugby Africa Gold Cup was cancelled for this year due to a lack of sponsorship. Rugby Americas North Championship
Bermuda won the 2019 Rugby Americas North Championship, they beat Guadeloupe 33 – 10. Bermuda remained in control throughout the first half, leading 14 – 0 early on. There was a lengthy delay in the match as an ambulance had to depart the ground for a medical emergency elsewhere.
Guadeloupe began the 2nd half better and cut the gap to 4 points. However Guadeloupe were then reduced to 14-men. Bermuda eventually got themselves together and pushed on to get 3 more tries, including a penalty try. Rugby Europe Conference 1 North
Czechia beat Hungary 64 – 0 in the opening game of Conference 1 North. The conference also includes Latvia, Luxembourg, and Sweden.
