Leinster Retain InterProvincial Championship by Ciarán Duffy

Energia Park was the venue for Leinster’s retention of the Women’s Interprovincial Championship.  Leinster beat Connacht on Saturday evening to make it 5 wins from 5 in the revamped competition.

Previously the competition was played as a round-robin with the 4 provinces playing each other once.  This year however, the addition of the semi-finals and grand final gave each team two extra games. Leinster finished 1st winning their first 3 games, and then beat 4th place Ulster to set up the final with Connacht.

Connacht started the brighter but tries from Lindsay Peat, Elise O’Byrne-White, and Grace Miller put Leinster in control.  Connacht got their first try in the 2nd half through Edel McMahon, before Beibhinn Parsons touched down to continue the fightback.  Tries from Hannah O’Connor and Judy Bobbett wrapped up the win for Leinster.
