Online comments after Ireland v Wales

A selection of the “keyboard warrior” reactions after the full-time whistle of our featured matches of the weekend.

If you’d like to contribute stay tuned to
our Facebook page for our “Feel free to leave your thoughts…” posts which show up around full time after Leinster & Ireland matches.

Neil Keegan Strong steady and confident. Wales punched themselves out early, ireland strangled like we used to 15 months ago.

Still more work to do, but the lads looked fresh and strong. Massive win!

Gerrrrrup ireland!!!!!

Richard Mifsud Easily the boys’ best performance of 2019. A step up in all areas. Lineout will improve. Stuck to what they’re comfortable with but doing it well. Great defence in the first 40 created the foundations for the win. In a much better place than we have been all year. Looking forward to the World Cup #COYBIG

Conor Cronin Lineout needs some work so that we are using it cleverly, but aside from that some really positive play and performances that give us a better insight into Joe's choices. Really pleased watching that and delighted to see Joe, Rory and the lads going off on a win

Imelda Reidy Decent performance. Decent win. On we go.

Lee O Farrell Ireland are back! Dominant all over the pitch. Great to see the lineout improving. Furlong, Ryan, VDF, Ruddock, Kilcoyne, Murray, Henshaw, Aki, Kearney all outstanding.

Iain O'Connor Finally a performance. Still not convinced on our tight 5 and set piece but much happier. We will give the Scots a good game and should get out of the group.
World number 1 my arse but way more optimistic

Wayne O'Brien Feeling much easier now than 2 weeks ago . A lot more organisation and composure evident compared to Twickenham. A good solid effort today and good to see the smothering of wales second half. Line out strayed wonky but improved markedly as the game progressed .

John Peeters Team getting better each week. Question mark around Earls now. Stats seem to indicate Kleyn was Ireland’s leading tackler in the first half, but he does not have the dynamism of Henderson or Ryan. Good competition for the back row now

Matt Matthews Good win but should have scored at the end. Very slow delivery from McGrath. Marmion would have been a better option to take to Japan.

Angela Cassin Jackson Great game the boys are definitely back to full form. Going into the World Cup number 1 in the world will give them a very big boost.

Gav Heg Still not convinced in kleyn but in Joe we trust. A far more assured performance but still question marks. Stander seems intent on playing himself out of contention. Murray needs more protection from his pack. Lineout still not up to scratch. Plus side is kilcoyne is putting serious pressure on Healy, porter is looking sharp and the new trim aki is causing problems in midfield. Forget about 1st in the world, it's all about the coming weeks.

Colin Mcconaghie Great intensity in the second half. Players looking a lot more like themselves. Hopefully we are going to peak just at the right time

Gerald Williamson A wonderful send off at the Aviva for two gentlemen of Irish Rugby. We thank you Captain Rory and Head Coach Joe for your inspirations and services to Irish Rugby. We wish you & the squad well & bon voyage to the RWC in Japan. Thank you gentlemen.

Eamon Phelan Job done thank god fingers crossed now 💪

Kevin Kelehan Delighted to see the team absorbed pressure against a decent side and didn't ship multiple tries, was unhappy with Micil Corcorans RTE article claiming the end of the side after the England humiliation, a good kicking can be required by a strong side gone off the boil. Based on today a semi final looks on and who knows after that

Sandra Dawson Much better performance full of hunger & intent ... line out missing 6’11 Dev. However, next stop 🇯🇵 and we build from there. Humidity will be a huge factor ... 🇮🇪🏉👍

Craig Grehan Defence was very good thank God. Big names set down markers. But, who is captain when Best, Sexton and O'Mahony aren't on?

Warren Feighery (reply to Craig Grehan) looked like Ruddock

Hywel Davies One dimensional game plan in second half will be effective in Japan if it’s wet windy and cold.

Nicola Mooney Omg what a game. Ireland back to its former glory

Many thanks to all who offered opinions.

Look out Monday for our match writeup JLP
