Online comments after Ireland v Japan

A selection of the “keyboard warrior” reactions after the full-time whistle of our featured matches of the weekend.

If you’d like to contribute stay tuned to our Facebook page for our “Feel free to leave your thoughts…” posts which show up around full time after Leinster & Ireland matches.

Noel Hewson Great display and delighted for Sexton to play so well. Never let Japan get any momentum and was good to see the number of offloads and overall positive attacking play. Roll on next week.

Paul Smith Brilliant display of rugby by the Ireland team today. Sexton and Conway could have been given MOM but it went to the fully deserving Conan, although another player who was outstanding today was JGP who was brilliant and kept the tempo going throughout the game and his little kick for the Conway try was superb. If the all blacks had scored that try we'd be seeing it on YouTube for a long time to come. Lovely to ses Ireland keeping it up for the tull 80 too. Very happy fan today. 🇮🇪🍀

John Hyland (reply to Paul Smith) Keenan was as brilliant as ever as well.

John Fitzpatrick Big mistake by IIRFU to move Joey to Munster never took to their type of back play as they did not have the same Talent as Leinster Joey spent more time injured in Munster they never progressed his talent a terrible pity for a talented player

Lorcán Murphy Wow, when so much is made of selection and the performance and result shut up the begrudgers. A special moment for Johnny at the end who puts his body on the line for all of us time and time again

James Griffin An 80 minute purple patch. Great to see!

Jacinta Morris (reply to James Griffin) I though it was aubergine 😛

Neil Keegan Strangled them. Really positive and exciting. A ghost has been excorcised. We move on.

David White Learned nothing as opposition weak so weak that allowed Champagne to flow. Oh sorry we did learn that Hugh Cahill has no new clichés in his repertoire. 😜

Conor Cronin It will be said you can only play what's on front of you and yes, Japan were poor, but Ireland played really well against them. Argue all you want about who from where for what position, but all 15 starters justified their place. Great to see that players who were being doubted proved their worth.

Greg Kelly Great performance for 65 mins. Looked like a very dangerous team on every attack. We kept the ball away from Japan and if we do that against NZ next week we are in with a chance. However on the cynical side when the replacements came in it was obvious the quality fell off. "Big Pete" gave away penalties and added little. Henderson however put down a physical marker. 2nd row for next week could be difficult to pick. It looks at this stage like Carbury is not up to the level, either yet or at all. You'd be pretty disgusted if you were Carty sitting at home watching Carburys cameo. Going into the RWC it could be Byrne(s) or Carty seen as the backup.

Gavin Macarthur Carbery is still nowhere near ready for international matches. He may never be at this point. That pointless kick into Japanese territory was daft.

On the upside, the pack were fantastic. Conan has been a brilliant ball-player for years and l am delighted to see him getting his shot.

Many thanks to all who offered opinions.

Look out Monday for our match writeup JLP
