Women's Six Nations Week 5 review by Ciarán Duffy




England 33 – 11 Ireland

It was a much improved Irish performance than the one against Scotland, but it wasn’t enough as England came away with the victory.  It was a record crowd for a womens Six Nations match in England at the Ricoh Arena.

Danielle Waterman got the games first try, becoming England’s all-time record try-scorer in the process , this was her 47th. Hannah Tyrell kicked a penalty for Ireland, before England took control with tries from Packer and Cokayne, both converted by McLean.  Ireland got a penalty back through Briggs.

In the second half England got further tries from Kildunne and Reed, both were converted by McLean.  Ireland got one back through Molloy. Ireland finish 3rd, as best of the rest, England finish 2nd 11 points ahead.  

Wales 3 – 38 France

France completed a grand slam with a bonus point win over Wales.  Early tries from Bourdon and Drouin were converted by Tremouliere to put the away side ahead.  Wilkins kicked a penalty for Wales, before Tremouliere touched down for Frances 3rd try.  

In the second half France were awarded a penalty try, before Sochat touched down to secure the bonus point, Tremouliere converted.  Neisen added a 5th for France with 12 minutes to go.  

Italy 26 – 12 Scotland

Italy picked up their second win of the campaign.  Bettoni got over for a try 3 minutes in, Sillari converted.  Stefan got Italys second shortly after. Italy touched down one more time in the first half through Franco, Sillari converted.

In the second half Rigoni secured the bonus point.  Scotland finally got on the board just before the hour mark with Skeldon touching down.  They got a second shortly after through Sinclair, Skeldon converted.
