The Leinster School of Excellence is going on tour this Halloween to six venues across the province…
Leinster School of Excellence on Tour is designed for players aged between 10-16 years old who want to learn to play rugby the Leinster Way. Camps run from the 28th to 30th of October (Tuesday to Thursday) from 10am-2pm daily in Athboy RFC, Cill Dara RFC (boys and girl’s camp), Donnybrook, Gorey RFC, Tullamore RFC and Westmanstown RFC.
Players who participate in the camps will develop their skills, obtain a greater understanding of game awareness and learn about rugby values such as team work, commitment, integrity and communication. Other skills that emphasis will be placed on include; passing, evasion, kicking, tackling (in a controlled environment) and contact will be introduced depending on the age and ability of the group. Camp goers will also gain a greater understanding of the importance of physical fitness and get the chance to make loads of new friends.
This year, there will be a nutritional talk on how best to eat to be healthy while playing sports and there will also be information around match time and hydration. Secondly, we will be giving increased education around strength and conditioning, and what is appropriate for young players at stage one (6-12) and stage two (13+).
In addition to the programmes this year there is a girl's only School of Excellence on Tour that will run in Cill Dara RFC. Players who attend the Leinster School of Excellence on Tour will be coached by Leinster Rugby staff that all have a vast amount of experience in providing top quality coaching to these young teens. To facilitate the appropriate attention given to each participant during the three days, camp goers will be split into groups of 15 depending on their age.
Participants will receive a Leinster Rugby Canterbury of New Zealand contact top.
