What Leinster need today for a home quarterfinal

With the reduction of teams from 24 to 20 in the Not-Heineken Cup, to get a home quarterfinal you still must top your pool but now your record has to be better than just one other pool winner when it was previously two.

So with Leinster having finished on 20pts yesterday, and both Racing and Toulon finishing with more than that, we now must rely on Pool 4 which concludes this lunchtime when Bath v Glasgow and Montpellier v Toulouse will decide who finishes top.

I have tried to put this as simply as I can...basically if any one of the following three things happens, we must travel for our quarterfinal.
  1. Toulouse win with four tries.
  2. Bath win with four tries AND a 15+ point winning margin.
  3. Toulouse win with less than four tries and 45+ winning margin (very, very unlikely)
I also thought it was worth mentioning that if we had somehow managed an extra TWO points somewhere along the line, a draw in the Clérmont v Saracens match (with the French scoring less than 4 tries) would also have given us a home quarterfinal.

So there we have it.  Fingers crossed, eh?  #COYBIB JLP

PS - By all means feel free to leave a comment here or on social media with your views on this topic, but I would say that if your intent is to make the point that Leinster probably shouldn't be in this situation in the first place, while I can't speak for all fans, I dare say most of them know that already ;-)
