Richard Mifsud Firstly, Saints deserved a match point/two from that match. Secondly, to have achieved a BPW when your starting teams gets blitzed by ridiculously late injuries should be applauded. That it was such an uncharacteristic disjointed performance was down to a combination of players coming back in, tweaking the playmaker axis, the early injury disruption and finally Saints’ own efforts IMHO. Leo and Stuart won’t be happy with that performance but will be happy with the result. It’s perfect for the coaches, they get to bollock the players on the back of a BPW. Not perfect, not pretty. Do we need to improve? Absolutely! Will we? Absolutely!!! We go again #COYBIB

Noel Hewson Losing the players they did early was obviously disrupting and credit to Saints they came to play. Still a little worried on both breakdown and lineout and how they will go against the top sides in those areas. Still job done and max points so it could be worse.

Conor Cronin I am so impressed that with the team suddenly decimated just before kick off, others stepped up to meet the challenge, and yes it wasn't flawless and it lacked some of the finesse we've come to expect, but very much job done against a decent Northampton team who werent just there to make up the numbers. I'll take that!

Joe Sheppard Bitty, disjointed, uncharacteristically poor overall BUT a BP win in Europe. Leo, Stuart and the lads themselves know what they need to look at. Happy Xmas and #TheDriveFor5 continues ๐Ÿ‰๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ’ช

Hubert Gallagher Really disjointed performance no doubt badly hindered by late changes and then HIAs. I remain unconvinced by Ross Byrne - he had I felt a disappointing game - shovelling the ball on at times, making a clear break but not connecting with supporting players. He rarely challenges the gain line and fixes players. I think it’s fine at Pro 14 level but at European and International level this is an issue. Ryan Baird was super and I look forward to watching him in green in due course - I loved the bit of aggro I’m him. I feel James Ryan needs a couple of weeks rest to recharged

I also felt the refereeing performance was very poor - how the clear out on VDF wasn’t red I don’t know and likewise the cheap shot on Ruddock’s ribs should have been picked up by the TMO.

All in all a bonus point win and we’re still unhappy! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚! Lots to improve on and lots of selections to be made for our next game!! Well done!

Paul Smith Can't be very critical of any BP win in Europe. There's no doubt it wasn't a vintage Leinster performance but given the injuries, the disruptions and it has to be said a decent Northampton side, its a job well done. Baird was excellent, as was Ryan and Ruddock (off course) but my own MOM was Dave Kearney who played the conditions superbly and didn't put a foot wrong. In this format of the Heineken Cup it's all about BP wins, so from that POV you'd have to be a happy Leinster fan right about now.

Dave Murray Not at our best but still came away with the 5 points dispute being a bit disjointed at set piece and the chopping and changing of the team didn't help either but job done and can only get better hopefully. Montpellier and Northampton out now pretty much so hopefully we can finish the job in the New Year.

Gav Heg So disappointed. I fell asleep after 20. Very uncharacteristic of me as I love European rugby.

Henry Byrne (reply to Gav Heg) I hope you woke up for the Munster game

Barry Doyle So much discussion about Concussion and Head injury in Rugby, and the ref doesn't see a player launching through a ruck making clear shoulder contact to a players head with force as illegal!! Missed a no arms shoulder hit on Ruddock exposed ribs in a maul too. Not a good day at the office for the ref.

John Peeters They cannot play like that against Munster next week. Disappointed by the ref and TMO. The hit by Wood was reckless and Ruddock took a cheap shot too

Many thanks to all who offered opinions.

Look out Monday for our match writeup JLP
