Very entertaining contest with the highly-rated Welsh youngsters finishing comfortable winners. A farcically harsh yellow and some missed Irish placekicks helped the visitors’ cause but there was no doubt they had the edge in most areas, particularly scrummaging and bringing the ball into contact. Plenty of positives from the “Wolfpuppies” with No 8 Max Deegan and man-of-the-match scrum-half John Poland impressing. Tries for Gallagher, Brown and Daly were a decent reward for the positive approach but it wasn’t quite enough.
