War of attrition. Ultimately tired legs, burning lungs and fitness levels in the final quarter undid this Italian side. After a promising start, the Italians weren’t overwhelmed by England, they managed to exert their own pressure and force soft penalties. In the first half, both ball retention and accuracy were poor. However, England pulled away in the final 20 to bring the FT score to 9 - 40 with Jonathan Joseph (hat trick) and Anthony Watson shining bright in the backline.
