Well done, a very entertaining match. Would've liked Niamh Briggs to have had her chance out there but the rest of the women have done her proud.

Brilliant win Irish Women #doffshat— Mick O Brien (@mickobrien1) August 9, 2017
Job done, tough game, Ciara Griffin was the difference off the bench , phenomenal carrying and great try, also Sophie Spence , got a lot of the basics wrong in the first half, Maz Reilly awesome in lineout ! COYGIG

#wrwc2017 Well done to the women in green great control— sportswomen_ie (@sportswomenIRL) August 9, 2017
Good result! The bench made a big difference. Being critical, I’d have some concerns about their tactics at times. They’ll need to not be so naive in future games - clear your lines and don't take so many unnecessary risks so close to your own try line. All fixable. Well done! COYGIG!

Sensational game ๐๐ผ congrats @claire_mol on an incredible shift and win ๐๐ผ— Abbie Parsons ⭐️ (@AbbieParsons3) August 9, 2017
A win is a win with pts on the board. The ladies made hard work for themselves. The subs made an impact in the second half. Well done to Maz Reilly on be.ing nominated as player of the match.

Take the win and move on..few areas to work on but hard fought victory will hopefully stand em in good stead...Claire Molloy was immense...— Mark Jackson (@markusjacksonus) August 9, 2017
Lucky to get the win, too many silly mistakes at important points. Attack seemed to be very blunt for much of it.
That said, tough opponents beaten, fitness seemed good, as were set pieces, scrum wobbles aside.

it was good to keep coming back & fighting for it. definitely room for improvement but a win is a win & I'm incredibly proud that they ground it out. ☘️๐๐

Ireland beat Australia 19-17 at the Women's World Cup – nervy affair for the hosts and they'll be pleased to get the win #WRWC2017— Rugby World (@Rugbyworldmag) August 9, 2017
Great result. Murphy hits like a train and was missed when she went off. Expected a lot more from the Aussies to be honest.
Room for improvement but win is a win and a great start

I think the expectation weighed heavily on them. Hopefully with a win under their belts they can relax and enjoy their rugby. Australian side were better than expected, we didn't hit the heights we are capable of. Ref missed a lot, maybe a bit out of his depth.

Brilliant stuff girls ๐ช๐ #onedown #WRWC2017 #IREvAUS #COYGIG #whoruntheworld— Sinead Coffey (@CoffeySinead) August 9, 2017
Great win, sure not perfect but Australia had Olympic gold medalists on their team, they were never going to be easy to beat. Got away with some foul play which was disappointing.
Hard to believe Sophie Spence started playing rugby at 21, she really is immense. Lots of stars on that field, roll on Sunday

A win coloured by host nation nerves but the important thing is they came through it. Take nothing away from the Aussie girls though. As to the tactics, the girls were too one dimensional IMO and could have exploited space out wide or in behind with kicks. Better to have a hard earned win than a romp. I'm sure they'll take great heart from this and kick on. Some stand out performances in the pack, half backs and the wings. Subs were key #COYGIG

Ireland's tight carrying did the job in the end. We weren't great by any means but the lineout, maul and fringe work was excellent #IREvAUS— Three Red Kings (@threeredkings) August 9, 2017
Impressive how they struck back after the Oz try in the 2nd half. Ditto how they ran down the clock at the end. Lots of work-ons though...

The occasion got them too anxious, the Aussies held onto the ball for the first few minutes and so settled better. Bad handling and ball retention let the Aussies play fast n loose(to their strength).....we did go back to basics and begin to go thru the phases.......we missed Jenny Murphy when she went off but our subs Spense and Griffin brought us home. O'Connor steadied the frontrow but was poor defending two of their tries. Miller did well despite getting each pass up around her neck. Workwomenlike win, nerves should now be behind them.

Wow - didn't see that being as tight as it was. Fair play Australia - much improved from June Women's Series. Relief for Ireland #WRWC2017— Sarah Mockford (@heelsonhalfway) August 9, 2017
A win is the start the team wanted. The pack were brilliant in grinding out the victory. The back line passing wasn't crisp enough to cause too much trouble for the aussies and there was a few handling errors at inopportune times but these things can be fixed as the tournament progresses. A win is all that matters though so we'll done girls. ๐๐ฎ๐ช๐ฎ๐ช
