South Africa are woeful.
Hayden Henderson
I'd take 38 - 3 in the football too#IREvRSA #COYBIG #ShoulderToShoulder #TeamOfUs #DENIRL— Ciarán Duffy (@TheVoiceDepth) November 11, 2017
Conway and Stockdale both well able for it
Kevin Kelehan
Great win for @IrishRugby! Let's just carry this forward for the rest of the games #IrishRugby— Gareth H (@RugbyGareth) November 11, 2017
Could comfortably name 8 serious contenders for MOTM but Bundee should have got it. Outstanding in defence. Conway/Stockdale give us incredible pace on wings which has been missing in past.
Sad to see South African rugby in that state though.
Conor Murphy
Would be utterly embarrassed to be a South African rugby fan. No longer a dangererous team. Ultra professional win for Ireland. On to Copenhagen now! #COYBIG— frånk (@Prunch22) November 11, 2017
Fantastic defense today, the new lads really added to the team. Springboks were shocking- really lacked any cohesion.
Carmel Dorian
Supporting Ireland from NZ. If looks could kill!! medic more worried about his bag than the player’s leg!! 😳 @BrianODriscoll @MichaelC_RTE pic.twitter.com/zzmMvTc0VL— Avan Lee (@avan_rugby) November 11, 2017
It was like watching a machine getting started and getting more and more tuned in.a beautiful display of consistent excellence.

One can’t even call it an aberration because we used that word up in Albany ... Time for big decisions to be made— Front Row Grunt (@FrontRowGrunt) November 11, 2017
Ireland played well, saw weaknesses and exposed them and kept the pressure on springboks. A lot of great impact talent from the bench as well. Overall great start to the internationals for us.
Edel Bethel
Huge impact by Irish bench, take that result all day long! Stockdale simply outstanding. FT Ireland 38 - 3 South Africa— Manus Lappin (@EmeraldRugby) November 11, 2017
Boks were woeful, so I won't mention them again. The lads weren't perfect, but they weren't that far off. Once you knock the rustiness off that there's very few sides they'd fear. Great showing from the young fellas and the bench. It's a good time to love Irish rugby.
Cian Ó Muilleoir
What a result! That was amazing. So chuffed for @JacobStockdale, @robert_herring2 @RoryBest2 and @HendersonIain. Running over Eden, Turing over the ball and scoring try’s. #Ulstermenontour #RugbyUnited— #RugbyUlster_ (@RugbyUlster_) November 11, 2017
Maybe, Just maybe Joe does actually know better than all the keyboard warriors out there who moaned about the selection. Johnny and Stockdale outstanding and Ruddock just gets better and better. Has to be pushing for a starting place in the back row.
Paul Smith
Huge Congratulations 🎊 To @IrishRugby On A Superb Display Today Against @Springboks Winning 38-3 😊😀😁 A Very Special Hat's Off To Our Men Of The West @connachtrugby 's @bundeeaki12 & @kieranmarmion Whom REALLY ARE Two Of Best! #MarmiWorldsBestNo9 😉— James B.C. (@WestAwake) November 11, 2017
The jersey is woeful, the performance wasn't.
Seriously though, Ireland went in to the game with 11 lions backing up a couple of new guys; who played like seasoned vets. Aki Conway and Stockdale all matching the physicality and intensity. The South Africans are poor without the edgy and ruthless aggression of former days Ebanez will grow into the captain's roll but a one trick pony team at the moment.
John O Halloran
Wish he got more of a chance ball in hand, but Aki was superb. Tackled brilliantly— John O'Sullivan (@NotoriousJOS) November 11, 2017
Boks tried early but where squashed. They had 1 and a half plans and neither worked.
Their captain was flattened and they where on the receiving end of a pummelling that Jenna Jameson wouldn't be able for
2 pornographic tries and our youngsters playing like veterans. Massive performances from the sqaud
Opposition where bad but they where strangled and not allowed play
Massively massively positive for Ireland .
Also, looking forward to neil Francis et al shutting up from now on ;)
Neil Keegan
Congratulations Ireland 🏈 👏👏👏, you deserved this big time. A pity the Springboks did not make a game if it. 😢😢😢— Ván Töndérsön (@Slipcatch) November 11, 2017
Really encouraging from Ireland. Conway on route to fulfilling his enormous potential and Stockdale also. SA pretty poor but if Rassie gets hands on, they'll be a different proposition in Japan. Coetzee is in the departure lounge!!
Keith Mongan
Incredible defensive performance. Aki & henshaw impenetrable— Conor Murphy (@comorm89) November 11, 2017
Whoever moaned about Aki’s inclusion in the team got their answer today. Quite powerful display from all the team. Great to see proper pace at wings and strong defensive effort. On the other hand SA were dreadful.
Sebastian Brennan
Allister Coetzee: "There are no positives from our side. We let ourselves down"— Rúaidhrí O'Connor (@RuaidhriOC) November 11, 2017
Hard to find many faults with that performance.Conway played very well Sexton and Murray controlled the game and Stockdale had a dream debut. SA were poor but Ireland were clinical and the new kids slotted in without much fuss. Hat tip to Joe and the team to how consistent this team has become
Noel Hewson
Jacob Stockdale. The best thing to come out of Lisburn since the defibrillator. #IREvRSA— Jonathan Davis (@jpdavis89) November 11, 2017
Bit surprised at the ending considering the first 70
Andrew Potts
"The reason I referred to Ireland as the European All Blacks is because at 2, 8, 9, 10 and 15, they are their decision-makers" - Coetzee— Pat McCarry (@patmccarry) November 11, 2017
SA shortcomings aside, Ireland looked really impressive at times. Reasons to optimistic about the future? For sure!
James Griffin
#IREvRSA Have to pause a moment & acknowledge a proud proud Springbok side who will be destroyed after that result— CatherineKavanagh48% (@KavanaghCk) November 12, 2017
Ireland outplayed Boks from start to finish in every department. Honestly Boks were lucky to get those 3 points. Back in the day Jake White said no Irish player would get a place in the SA side, well the shoe is completely on the other foot now.
Andrew Byrne
Hard to know what to make of the Ireland v South Africa result. SA way too inconsistent to give Ireland to much credit, but they certainly deserve some for putting so much distance in the scoreboard #IREvRSA #rugbyunited— Paul Woodbridge (@Voodersh1) November 11, 2017
We were quite rusty in attack, good few passes not going to hand, but our defence stopped the boks getting into it and once we got going we also scored some beautiful tries.
Dónal Foley
Just seen @bundeeaki12 was the top tackler today! Been watching him doing that for 3 years - glad to finally see him do it in an Ireland Jersey! Complete justified selection and should have got MOTM! #TeamOfUs #IREvRSA— David Harney (@daithi232) November 11, 2017
Zebo who?
Gav Heg
Very dejected looking #Springboks players at the end of a hard battle with a supberb Irish team #IREvRSA pic.twitter.com/qsjkxQ74pI— Cathal (@CathalM80) November 11, 2017
Great team effort. The coaching tactics proved that Ireland have a great coaching team led by Joe Schmidt.
Gerald Williamson
Changes at 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 for next game. Oh, and most importantly, Allister Coetzee.#Springboks #IREvRSA #SSRugby— I Am African (@brokenfone) November 11, 2017
Didn't like the Irish jerseys
Julie Duignan
Late tries made the margin exactly what the Boks deserved. Played within ourselves but we could afford to, and our D looked really solid as did scrum. Loved the attitude throughout Irish squad most of all, including the new boys who seem to be settling in just fine. #IREvRSA— Harpin' On Rugby 🏉 (@HarpinOnRugby) November 11, 2017
Many thanks to all who offered opinions.
