Exeter earned just 3pts from first-quarter dominance, possibly missing Simmonds’ gainline breaks and White’s sniping; they then missed Salvi for 10m after an illegal clearout. This woke up the Tigers and winger Malouf soon crossed. Their fullback Veainu’s deliberate knockon meant yellow and penalty try but the Chiefs couldn’t handle Leicester’s line speed nor their dogged breakdown work and Johnny May’s match-winning score caught them badly napping. A last-gasp scrum penalty pinched a BP but the champions should’ve had more.
