Rugby Opinion

Really coming together for Leo and his coaching team l really think we will be a big force in Europe this time next season and you can see the way Leo wants the game played and what an improvement in the scrum Bring It On

Odran John OBrien

Joey Carberry was electrifying, Isa was immense while JVDF was world class

Colin Mehigan

Delighted with that! Some really good performances, Joey and Josh in particular! Set piece excellent

Denise O'Brien

Leinster have found some serious scrummaging power and really turned the screw on the large Castres pack. Everyone seems to be upping their game and competition for places in the Leinster pack is driving standards. 5 points in the bag is the perfect start, what a difference a year makes.

From my seat in the north stand I felt there was no need to substitute Cronin or McGrath, they were playing great and scrummaging well (and Cronin for the hat-trick would have been nice!) Sexton's boots are not easy to fill so well done Carberry who had an excellent game. It's a shame to see so many high takes ignored and inconsistent refereeing; If one team infringing on a maul within 5m is a yellow and penalty try then so is the other. But a bp win is a cracking start hopefully we maintain the quality of play (which was great throughout the squad) and the intensity next week

Conor Cronin

Once again good (without being clinical) for 60-70 mins then we seem to lose / change focus. We can only get away with that for so long. A really organised team will eventually put us away. The ref was beyond comical. I understand that rugby has laws and they are open to interpretation but that guy seems to have applied his judgement on a set of laws he made up on the bus on his way to the game. He was way out of his depth.

Alan Murphy

I wondered if the young lads were as classy as we thought. I think the answer is pretty much there. Now they should be really serious about looking to win the next game and dominate this pool. No rubbish about gaining experience or learning curves they have that experience in Jamie and Isa. everybody should earn their place and look to finish games scoring points. Set the culture for the next generation.

Luke had a game to forget. His passing was dreadful. Zane proved again to me, that he should only ever be played at full back. Nugget was awesome. His hooking and darts are reliable. Due in part to this our set pieces were excellent. Like v Munster we left tries out there again. Our finishing isn't clinical enough. Just watched NOR v MON - two tough teams, who won't give us an inch!!!!

p.s. The As smaddered Richmond 19-68. Sounds like SO'B putting up his hand for selection next week.....

Having just rewatched the match I think my previous comment re Luke's passing was unnecessarily harsh. Apart from the one to Carberry's shoelaces his passing was fine.

100% lineout, bossed them up front. Ref didn't ping them enough. Hopefully Isa can play till he's 40.

Many thanks to all who offered opinions.

Look out Monday for our match writeup JLP
