Challenge Cup Pool 3 Round 2 review



Gloucester 61 – 16 Agen

Gloucester scored 9 tries in a demolition of Agen at Kingsholm Stadium.  Vellacott got their first try with just 4 minutes gone.  Verdu kicked three first half penalties for Agen, but three further Gloucester tries from Trinder, Morgan, and Savage had Gloucester 28 – 9  in front at halftime.  

The scoring continued in the second half as Gloucester got further tries from Purdy, Williams, Vellacott again, Hibbard, and Polledri.  Winger Branden Holder got one back for Agen.  

Zebre 33 – 38 Pau

Pau battled back from 23 points down to claim their second win of this campaign.  Licata and Boni got early tries for Zebre as they took control.  Votu got one back for Pau.  Another try from Castello and two penalties from Canna saw the Italians lead 30 – 7 at halftime.  

The comeback began with a 52nd minute try from Saili.  Two penalty tries, and a penalty from Taylor saw Pau go ahead by 1 point, Tagitagivalu touched down to secure the victory.  A late Canna penalty ensured Zebre took a losing bonus point.  

Pau top the pool with 9 points, Gloucester are 2nd with 6, Agen are 3rd with 5, Zebre are bottom with only that losing bonus point.
