Montpellier will be an extremely different proposition for Leinster this time

The last time Montpellier and Leinster met, it really didn’t go well for the French side. An early red card for Frans Steyn had Montpellier down a man for the rest of the match, and the Irish side’s high-tempo attack overwhelmed their opponents, 57-3. When Montpellier comes to RDS Arena in Round 1 of the Champions Cup, it likely won’t be so easy for Leinster.

Montpellier’s near the top of the table, with 5 wins in 7 matches and an impressive 4 bonus points, while Leinster are third in their conference of Pro 14. Leinster is also dealing with the possibility of playing without captain Isa Nacewa and star flanker Sean O’Brien, either of which would be a noteworthy absence. Leinster is a heavy favourite, sitting at 1/3 on most sites reviewed here and they're more likely to win, but those odds are too short, and Montpellier could be a bargain at 12/5.
