Challenge Cup Pool 5 Round 2 review

Connacht 15 – 8 Worcester Warriors
Connacht won their opening home match of the tournament in a low scoring affair. Eoghan Masterson touched down with 5 minutes gone to put the Westerners ahead. A Jack Carty penalty meant Connacht led 8 – 0 at halftime.
Worcester got back into it in the second half when winger Josh Adams got over the lone. Matt Healy would reply 6 minutes later, adding to the brace he got last week, Jack Carty converted. Jono Lance kicked a penalty late on to ensure Worcester took a bonus point from the game. Brive 38 – 13 Oyonnax
Oyonnax suffered a second heavy defeat in a row as Brive got their first win of the tournament, and their seventh consecutive home European victory. In each of those wins their opponents have scored less than 20 points, but it was Oyonnax who opened the scoring, Julien Audy kicked a penalty. Gaetan Germain replied almost immediately, before captain Petrus Hauman got the first of their 5 tries. Two tries from Jourdain and one from Laranjeira wrapped up the bonus point before half time.
The second half saw three tries, the first two for Oyonnax scored by Fuertes and Hall. The result was never in doubt, and substitute Mignardi would add a fifth try for Brive. Connacht top the pool with 9 points, ahead of Worcester on 6, and Brive on 5. Oyonnax are yet to pick up any points.
