Challenge Cup Pool 4 Round 2 review



Krasny Yar 14 – 73 Edinburgh

Krasny Yar couldn’t repeat last weeks shock win, Edinburgh scored 10 tries as they take maximum points from their opening two games.  Edinburgh scored three tries within the first 15 minutes with Kinghom, Hidalgo-Clyne, and Carmichael touching down to put the away side 0 – 21 up.  A try from Cochrane and a Hidalgo-Clyne penalty meant Edinburgh led 0 – 31 at halftime.  

The second half began with McCallum touching down twice for the scots, before they won a penalty try.  Kolomiitcev got the first score of the game for Krasny at the hour mark, Malaguradze converted it.  Further tries from Kinghorn, McKenzie, and McInally made for a comfortable Edinburgh win.  Krasny would get a second try late on, Kondakov getting over.  

Stade Francais 7 – 44 London Irish

London Irish got their first win of the tournament as Stade Francais lost their second match.  Gilsenan opened the scoring with a try before two from Topsy Ojo put the Exiles well in control.  Stades only score was a converted try in the 18th minute scored by number 8 Bakary Meïte.  Scrumhalf Ben Meehan got another for Irish before halftime.

It took 27 minute for the first score of the second halkf, a penalty from Brophy Clews.  London Irish would get three more tries, Chawatama, Rasnsom, and Steele the scorers.

Edinburgh are in control of the pool with 10 points, London Irish are 2nd ahead of Krasny Yar on point difference.  Stade Francais sit bottom of the table.
