HEINEKEN Ireland leads development of global Rugby World Cup 2015 TV commercial
TV ad to air across the world and features RWC legends Jonah Lomu and John Smit
HEINEKEN Ireland, the lead market for the global Rugby World Cup 2015 advert, has developed an epic TV commercial which will be aired around the world this autumn. The ad has been created to mark the lager brand’s proud sponsorship of Rugby World Cup 2015, and features legendary rugby heroes Jonah Lomu and John Smit. It champions HEINEKEN’s Man of the World, as he attempts to deliver the coin for the Rugby World Cup 2015 final coin toss to the match referee.
The ad was filmed in Twickenham Stadium, London, earlier this year. As official sponsor of the tournament, HEINEKEN has exclusive rights to the coin toss that opens every match, and this is an integral part of the TV ad which continues the "Legends" theme of previous campaigns.
Dublin-based ad agency, Rothco, were tasked with leading the creative direction of the advert, with strategic input from MCCP. The selection of HEINEKEN Ireland to lead the worldwide creative campaign for Rugby World Cup 2015 is seen as a huge coup for the Irish market, and reflects the strong content created and broadcast by HEINEKEN Ireland over the last number of years.
HEINEKEN Marketing Director, Sharon Walsh, said; “We are very proud of the TV commercial we developed with Rothco and it will play a massive part in our Rugby World Cup 2015 campaign. Our sponsorship of this year’s tournament will be the single largest investment for the HEINEKEN brand in Ireland this year, and this TV commercial is just one of the many exciting ways we’ll be leveraging our sponsorship in the coming weeks and months. HEINEKEN has been planning for Rugby World Cup 2015 almost since the final whistle blew in Auckland four years ago, and we’re looking forward to bring our campaign to the consumer over the coming months.”
HEINEKEN Ireland has a long-standing association with rugby tournaments, including sponsorship of Rugby World Cup 2015, the European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup, and continues to provide rugby fans with unique, world-class rugby experiences.
