A game that promised much based on their respective displays last week but the Ulstermen could make the most of neither decent lineout platform nor manpower advantage; in fact the Scarlets’ only try from Parkes came when shorthanded. A strong Scholes finish in the corner and a penalty try weren’t enough to claw back the deficit. The home pack’s doggedness invited many a yellow but also forced many an Ulster error and if this continues they should compete in Europe.
